Listening Your Way To Better Health

Calming garden landscape in the Pacific Northwest

Welcome September. My favorite time of year in the Pacific Northwest. Today marks my first September in the US in 5 years. Wow!

People often ask me if I like Australia or the States more… and to me, that is like asking a mother which child she loves more. There is no answer.

I can say this much: moving across the world changed my health for the better. Is that because of location? Well, there are definitely things about the Australian climate that make my body sing, but mostly, it’s because I followed my heart. And that’s not dependent on location.

Eating well and taking care of your body are important, as we all know, but if you’re not listening within, it’s like trying to run up an escalator that’s going down. You can drink all the organic green smoothies in the world, but you’ll be missing a huge part of the puzzle, and wasting  a lot of time worrying and wondering why things aren’t happening the way you try so hard to make them happen.

I didn’t know how long I was going to be in Australia for, or why specifically that was where I needed to go, I just knew that I needed a change, a big change, and I felt a pull, and a lightness, when I thought about moving to the Sunshine State.

I’m not saying moving across the globe was easy, oh no. Nor am I saying that you should. All I am saying is that tuning into your inner ‘knowing’, your intuition of what’s best for you, will always serve your health for the better.

It could be as simple as listening to your body by not eating xyz, or going to bed by 10pm because less than 8 hours of sleep makes you feel like crap, or just maybe, physically moving locations. It’s different for each of us, and constantly evolving for us all, too.

Listening within to the voice that’s telling you what you need is a step in the right direction to more calm and more contentment, which naturally creates better health. It’s not always easy, and don’t be surprised if you find yourself resisting and making excuses. I do it too! Living from the heart takes courage. It doesn’t have to happen overnight. But the more you live from your heart, the more it happens naturally without trying, and the more the barriers will move out of your way and things will flow.

Don’t doubt yourself. Despite what your mama told you, YOU always know best.

Are you listening?

Love,

Emily
